2010 History
Team FUUSEion runs a ‘Summer Camp’ at South Church in Portsmouth!
On July 18, 2010, Team FUUSEion ran our very first LEGO camp at South Church, a Unitarian Universalist church in Portsmouth. We had activities for both ‘Junior’ students (K-3rd grade) and ‘Senior’ Students (4th-8th grade). 11 Junior students from South Church attended, as well as 9 Senior students, for 20 students total! Although we only had an hour, we were able to tell the students about FLL, explain how we run our team based on UU Principles, have our own team members demonstrate our robot, and complete a ‘build’ session for the South Church kids.
During the build session, the Junior students used LEGOs to make scenes related to the UU Principle of their choice, while the Senior students built, programmed, and successfully ran a LEGO robot starting from scratch.
The student members of Team FUUSEion were great ambassadors for FUUSE and FLL. The coaching staff was very impressed, as were the adults at South Church. We’re hoping, of course, that South Church starts their own team FLL for the fall. We promised lots of help!
