US Senator Jeanne Shaheen (almost) Looks at Our Robot in Washington DC!
In June of 2010, Coach Frank was approached by the Marketing Department at FIRST to see if Team FUUSEion could provide a robot to be used at a FIRST demo at an event in Washington DC being hosted by the Senator. The even was called ‘Experience New Hampshire’, and was a way for businesses and organizations in New Hampshire to get exposure at the national level. Senator Shaheen was inviting all her Senate colleagues to the event. The team wouldn’t be able to go, but our robot would!
Coach Frank, of course, said ‘YES!’ to the Marketing Department’s request and the team got together that weekend to start programming a special demo. We knew we had limited space, so we programmed a little dance for the robot to do, and a ‘Magic 8 Ball’ simulator. Later Coach Frank tweaked the team’s ‘Line Following’ and ‘Loop Pickup’ programs used in the 2009 season to be used in the demo also.
The robot was finished in time, was driven to DC, and performed perfectly. The Marketing Department at FIRST sent us a big ‘thank you’ and gave us pins with the image of the Senate on them. Check out the photo below, that’s our robot!
